IOWA CITY, Iowa — The all-time leading scorer in NCAA Women’s Basketball history will now be entering the WNBA, and may end up in Indianapolis.
Caitlin Clark, the Iowa Hawkeye guard and national sensation, posted on social media Thursday that she will be entering the 2024 WNBA Draft. Clark is likely to be selected with the number one overall pick, a pick that belongs to the Indiana Fever.
“While this season is far from over and we have a lot more goals to achieve, it will be my last one at Iowa,” Clark’s post read. “I am excited to be entering the 2024 WNBA Draft.”
Clark, who recently sold out two Indiana arenas when she came to play Purdue and Indiana, is averaging 32.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game so far this season as her Iowa Hawkeyes are currently ranked sixth in the nation.
Almost every WNBA Draft analyst has agreed for months that, if Clark were to leave Iowa, she would be taken by the Fever at number one.
After it was announced that the Fever had secured the first pick, local businesses even began pushing for Clark to enter the draft and come to Indianapolis.
