BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Bloomington police have arrested a “peeping tom” on trespassing charges after a witness said he was looking into windows and masturbating on a front porch.
Marcus L. Ford, a 43-year-old homeless man living in Bloomington, was arrested over the weekend and charged with criminal trespassing, voyeurism and resisting law enforcement after he allegedly ran from cops investigating a peeping tom report.
Bloomington Police Department officers were called at 8:45 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of N. Washington Street after an employee at a nearby business reported a man masturbating on a porch. The woman said she’d recorded the man with his hands in his pants and moving his hips.
Upon arrival to the area, a BPD officer saw a Black male in dark clothing that matched the suspect description standing “on the curtilage of” 427 N. Washington Street. When the suspect saw the BPD police car, he allegedly ran from the officer.
After a brief chase, the suspect — later identified as Ford — was handcuffed, searched and taken to the Monroe County Jail. While being detained, Ford reportedly apologized to officers for running from them.
Officers interviewed one witness who said she’d seen Ford walk on several porches along Washington Street, reportedly hanging out and looking into windows. BPD also reviewed several videos taken of Ford reportedly trespassing on several properties.
Eventually, Ford was booked into Monroe County Jail on the following charges:
- Criminal trespassing – an A misdemeanor
- Voyeurism – a B misdemeanor
- Resisting law enforcement – an A misdemeanor
Due to the level of charges Ford is facing, FOX59/CBS4 is not releasing his mugshot. A bench trial in Ford’s case is scheduled to start on June 20, 2024.
