Despite their team trailing 1-2 in the five-match series, England fans have made their presence felt in India. Barmy Army, the official fanbase of the England cricket team, have supported their side in good and bad times throughout the series. Notably, the visitors had won the series opener in Hyderabad, but were blown in the last two games in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot, respectively. However, the Barmy Army’s support has been as passionate as it can get. They have also been involved in some healthy banter with the Indian fans.

Having said that, a member of the Barmy Army was captured playing the title track of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ on Saxophone.

The incident happened on Day 1 of the ongoing 4th Test in Ranchi. The video was shared by the Barmy Army on their official handle on X (formerly Twitter).

Here’s how social media reacted:

The opening day of play was mostly dominated by the visitors, thanks to Joe Root‘s unbeaten century.

After losing half of the side at lunch for 112, England rode on Root’s determined 106 not out to end day one on 302 for 7 in the fourth Test against India at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi.

England opener Zak Crawley said a century from Root was long due, labelling it a “phenomenal” knock under the circumstances.

“He (Root) is unbelievable. We fully expected him to get a good score at some point in this series; he was due, he’s the best player we’ve ever had and he played phenomenally today,” said Crawley after the day’s play.

“He deserves everything he gets, he works so hard at his game and he always comes good.” Root was in the middle of a lean patch and his highest score before Friday’s knock in this series was 37.

“He’s probably the only bloke in our team who could have done that knock; he’s that good, he’s our best player and he’s stepped up when we needed him to.

“We needed him to get a score and he got a score like he’s done for so many years now, he’s a phenomenal player,” said Crawley who made run-a-ball 42 at the top of the order.
