WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The West Lafayette Police Department recently released information regarding a Thursday morning crash between a school bus and two other vehicles that caused serious injuries, including injuries to one person who officials said is not expected to survive.

According to a news release from the department, the crash reportedly occurred at the intersection of US 231 N and Lindberg Rd. in West Lafayette around 6:55 a.m. on Thursday.

When officers arrived at the scene, officials said the driver of a Honda that had collided with the bus had suffered “serious injuries… and was unconscious.” Officials with the West Lafayette Fire Department extricated the driver from the vehicle and he was transported to an area hospital.

Police said the driver is not expected to survive his injuries.

After a preliminary investigation, officials said the driver of the bus was attempting to make a left turn onto Lindberg Rd. when it was struck by a Honda traveling southbound on US 231. The collision caused the bus to spin, striking a Mercury vehicle in the process.

Officials said the driver of the bus, as well as the driver of the Mercury, were also transported to a local hospital. Officials said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The release said the crash remains under investigation.
