A memorial service was held in Indiana on Wednesday to honor the life of the boy who was found dead inside a suitcase in a wooded area in southern Indiana.The boy’s boy was found in April inside a suitcase in southern Indiana woods. A mushroom hunter found him 80-feet off holder road in the woods just northeast of New Pekin.A month later, the boy still has not been identified.One officer, Matt, involved in the investigation spoke at the service about the boy, who they referred to as “Angel.””I’ve had some difficulty in narrowing down what I’d like to say this morning, I’ve experienced many different emotions as I’ve prepared for my time this morning. Since this all took place I’ve asked myself numerous times, ‘why?’ as I thought about Angel and thought about the situation. We may not know why but we can find comfort in where Angel is now, he’s at rest,” he said.Another speaker said, “We’re not here today to answer these questions even if we could, we’re here to mourn.” Multiple Bible passages and psalms were also read during the service. Detectives released the photo in April of the suitcase the boy was found in as well as set up a national tip line to help find answers.Police described the boy as being Black, approximately 5 years old, thin build, with a short haircut. Soon after he was found, Indiana State Police launched a new nationwide hotline specifically for this case. The number is 1-888-437-6432.The county held a prayer vigil in April at the Salem Courthouse, Pekin Park and Hardinsburg Christian Church to honor the child.So far – the tip line has received hundreds of calls, however, police say they still have more questions than answers.
