INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed in a shooting on the city’s east side Thursday night.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 7:24 p.m. to an apartment located in the 1400 block of South Bancroft Street, which is the address for Rowney Street Apartments, in response to a disturbance involving a bat.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound on the ground outside. That victim was later pronounced deceased.
IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer said on scene that witnesses to the shooting are cooperating and providing information to the police, although no suspect description was immediately provided.
