Police say a suspect is dead after reports of an active shooter situation at UNLV on Wednesday.
Officials are expected to release more details about the shooting, which unfolded a little before noon on the UNLV campus. UNLV officials said in an emergency notification at 12:45 p.m. that the suspect had been contained, while urging students to continue sheltering in place.
University and Las Vegas police issued several messages on social media warning of an active shooter at Beam Hall, which houses the Lee Business School, and urged students to run, hide and fight. Another emergency notification stated that university police were responding to reports of shots fired in the university’s student union.
The incident took place just weeks before the end of the semester.
Officials have not released information about any casualties, but Las Vegas police reported there appeared to be multiple victims.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
