National Weather Service officials expect showers and isolated thunderstorms throughout the area Thursday and temperatures to reach in the high 60s before conditions turn cooler.
Friday will be the last day of warm temperatures for a while with an expected high of 71 degrees before dipping into the low 40s overnight.
Thursday, portions of north central and northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana are expected to have periods of showers and isolated storms into the night hours.
Officials expect heavier rainfall across northwest Illinois from the Peru to Lake Forest line. Thursday night there is an 100% chance of rain for the Chicagoland area, officials.
The rainy weather will stick around for the coming weekend, until Monday when the sun appears but heavier coats will need to be pulled out when highs are expected in the 40s.
Current late-morning conditions at Midway Airports is overcast at 67 degrees. At O’Hare International Airport conditions are the same at 69 degrees.
