A spike in kindergarten enrollment and the return of homeschooled students to public schools ever so slightly boosted Michigan’s K-12 enrollment this school year, state education officials said.
For the 2021-22 school year, 1,443,456 students were enrolled in public schools, about 5,800 or 0.4% more than the 1,437,612 in 2020-21 who attended when the COVID-19 pandemic continued to shutter some schools and disrupt learning.
