A pedestrian died after being hit by a motorist on Monday in Aurora, police said.
The incident happened at about 10:35 p.m. near East Colfax Avenue and Moline Street, police said in a news release. The man who was hit was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The man was crossing Colfax east of the Moline crosswalk, when he was hit by the driver of a Toyota Camry that was eastbound and had just gone through a green light.
“The driver, an adult male, did not see the pedestrian as he stepped into traffic,” the release said. “The driver was unable to stop in time and struck the pedestrian.”
The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with officers, police said. An investigation is ongoing. Monday’s incident is the 20th traffic related fatality this year in Aurora.
