MANILA, Philippines—Pool legend Efren “Bata” Reyes made an early exit in the men’s 3-cushion carom single event of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games at Aeon 2 Sen Seok on Tuesday.

Cambodia’s Woo Dong Hoon trounced Reyes, 40-15, to knock the Filipino great out of medal contention in as early as the round of 16.

Woo will be facing Thailand’s Suriya Suwannasingh in the quarterfinals as a result.

Thankfully for the Philippines, Francisco Dela Cruz is still in contention to win it all in the 3-cushion carom category.

Dela Cruz cruised past Thailand’s Thongchai Punyawee, 35-27, to advance to the round of 8 phase.

Up next for Dela Cruz is Indonesia’s Jhonny Chandra, who defeated Malaysia’s Chia Darryl Soo Yew to advance to the quarters.

In men’s 9-ball, Filipino bets Johann Chua and Carlo Biado–who finished 1-2 in the Hanoi SEA Games, have already been eliminated.

Top women’s cue artists Rubilen Amit and Chezka Centeno are also out of contention in 3-cushion carom.
