As the Jackson metro area’s first Chipotle restaurant opened in Ridgeland on Wednesday to huge crowds and long lines, another location has been announced.
Chipotle recently announced it would open a restaurant in Flowood this fall.
It will be located at 108 Market St. in Flowood along Lakeland Drive in the former Corner Bakery building. Corner Bakery closed in both Madison and Flowood as dozens of locations were eliminated during COVID-19.
Chipotle is the only company of its size that owns and operates all of its restaurants globally.
The Flowood location, which will be the third in the area, is expected to open before the end of the year. It will feature the brand’s signature Chipotlane, a drive-thru pickup lane that allows guests to pick up digital orders without leaving their cars, according to a company spokesperson.

The Ridgeland Chipotle at 836 East County Line Road opened Wednesday.
The Ridgeland location was formerly home to a Shoney’s restaurant and more recently a Shrimp Basket.
As of Dec. 31, 2021, the company had expanded to 2,918 Chipotle restaurants throughout the United States and 44 international locations.
A second Chipotle location in Madison is in the early stages of construction with an early 2024 timetable set for opening. That restaurant is on Grandview Boulevard next to the existing Zaxby’s.
