A man has died and an 18-year-old man was wounded in a shooting Thursday afternoon on the Near South Side.
The victims were inside a car in the 1900 block of South State Street about 3:30 p.m. when a white Kia, which had been reported stolen, pulled up to them and someone inside fired shots, Chicago police said.
The 18-year-old was shot in the hand but the other unidentified male was shot in the torso and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:11 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The 18-year-old was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
The stolen Kia was later found abandoned nearby at Cermak Road and State, police said.
No one has been arrested and Area 3 detectives were investigating.
