PIERRE – Taking advantage of their opponent’s miscues, the Pierre Governors climbed back to .500 for the season on Wednesday, defeating Rapid City Stevens 8-4 at Hyde Stadium.
Stevens committed six errors, one of which scored a fourth-inning run that gave the Governors (8-8) a 4-3 lead, after which they did not trail again.
Pierre improved its lead to 8-3 with a four-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Jayden Wiebe and an RBI single by George Stalley.
Brecken Krueger was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs and six hits in five and two-thirds innings.
Stalley also had a triple. The Governors were limited to four hits, but drew eight walks.
