Amid his stunning series of anti-Semitic statements, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West is no longer buying Parler, the social media platform said Thursday..
Ye announced in October he was buying the company, whose lack of content moderation has made it popular with some conservatives, for an undisclosed amount.
“This decision was made in the interest of both parties in mid-November,” Parler said in a statement. “Parler will continue to pursue future opportunities for growth and the evolution of the platform for our vibrant community.”
The platform was kicked off of several app stores following the Jan. 6, 2021 siege of the U.S Capitol by crazed throngs of former President Donald Trump’s supporters. Since then, it has struggled to draw an audience outside of right-wing and libertarian circles who tend to shun Twitter and other social media apps.
In Ye’s latest jaw-dropping eruption of anti-Semitism, he praised Nazis during a Thursday interview with Alex Jones. Earlier this week, he claimed the IRS had frozen accounts because of an unpaid $50 million tax bill. Previous ravings got Ye kicked off of social media platforms including Instagram and cost him major business deals with businesses like Adidas and the Gap.
Ye was previously worth as much as $1.9 billion, according to Forbes.
