They’re lovin’ it.
An Atlanta couple will probably never look at fast food the same way after their baby girl entered the world at a McDonald’s.
Alandria Worthy, who moved to Georgia last weekend with her fiancé, gave birth at the fast food restaurant after they stopped there for a bathroom break on the way to the hospital, WXIA-TV reported.
“I read not to go to the hospital as soon as you start feeling [contractions],” Worthy told the station. “I didn’t want to be in the hospital pushing hours and hours.”
After she entered the McDonald’s bathroom Wednesday morning, Worthy’s water broke, she said, and her screams alerted Tunisia Woodward, the store’s general manager.
“I opened [the stall door], and she was on this toilet lying back, screaming,” said Woodward, who initially thought the ordeal was a joke. “Then I knew to tell my crew; we’re having a baby today.”
Ultimately, Worthy was helped by her fiance, Deandre Phillips, along with Woodward and her colleagues , and emergency dispatch, which gave instructions over the phone.
The newborn, Nandi Ariyah Moremi Phillipps, has been dubbed “Little Nugget” by the McDonald’s workers who helped usher her into the world. They received $250 gift cards from the restaurant’s owner for their assistance, WXIA reported.
Phillips told WXIA that he and Worthy wanted to return to the McDonald’s to “thank them for helping deliver our beautiful Nugget.”
