One person has died and another was injured after a crash Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 42 in Waynesville. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Lebanon, just before 3 p.m. a semi truck collided with a tractor, causing the road to be shut down.A preliminary investigation showed, the semi tractor-trailer hit the farm tractor from the rear causing the semi to travel off the side of the roadway, through the median, across the northbound lanes and overturned in the ditch.The driver of the semi-truck, 68-year-old Edward Williams, was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated, police said. Officials said Williams was transported to Miami Valley Hospital via Careflight with life-threatening injuries. Police said the driver of the farm tractor was identified as Etsey Pringle, 63, of Waynesville. Pringle was thrown from the tractor and died from his injuries at the scene, police said. The highway was closed for approximately eight hours while officials investigated. All lanes have since reopened. The crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Waynesville Police Department, Wayne Township Fire Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
