Crews respond to reports of a structure fire on Girard Avenue

RANDI: RIGHT NOW ON WLWT, SOME FLAKES FLYING TO OUR WEST THIS MORNING WHEN WE WARM ENOUGH TO FLIP THIS TO RAIN AND SOME LIGHT SNOW POTENTIAL TOMORROW. STEVEN: PLUS WE’RE KEEPING AN EYE ON THE ROADWAYS WITH LIVE DRIVE FIVE. HOW YOUR COMMUTE COULD LOOK DIFFERENT, DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE. RANDI: WE ARE SEEING THE POTENTIAL FOR A WINTRY MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW THIS MORNING. OF ONE TO FORGET UNTIL LATE MORNING, THE LUNCH HOUR WE WILL WARM UP AND IT WILL BE JUST PLAIN RAIN. THE FIRST THING I DID WAS CHECK THE ROAD TEMPERATURES. THAT IS THE IMPORTANT THING. IF WE HAVE ROAD TEMPERATURE SERVICES THAT ARE BELOW FREEZING WE HAVE SLICK SPOTS BUT RIGHT NOW ALL TEMPERATURES COMING IN ABOVE FREEZING. ON THE RADAR, YOU HAVE BLUE HERE ALONG NORTH OF 74 JUST OUTSIDE OF OUR AREA BUT A LOT OF THIS NOT QUITE MAKING ITS WAY ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND JUST YET. ALSO SOME DRIZZLE TRYING TO PUSH AND TO RIPLEY COUNTY, DOWN IN THE MOST SOUTHERN PART OF BOONE COUNTY. A LOT OF IT NOT MAKING IT TO THE GROUND FIRST THING YOU WILL SEE A LITTLE BIT OF DRIZZLE HITTING THE WINDSHIELD, A SPRINKLE, AND MAYBE SIMS — SOME SNOW SHOWERS. MOST LIKELY TO HAVE SNOW MIXED IN. THE COOLER AIR SETTLES IN BY TOMORROW THEN WE ARE TALKING RAIN, SNOW MIX. WE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT SNOW SHOWERS FOR WEDNESDAY. ALL AIR TEMPERATURES ABOVE FREEZING AT THE MOMENT AND ALL ROAD TEMPERATURES THE SAME LOOKING AT MOST PLACES, SURFACE TEMPERATURES A COUPLE DEGREES ABOVE FREEZING AND THAT SHOULD KEEP THE ROADS WET. ROADWAYS NOT AFFECTED AS RANDI MENTIONED. AGAIN IF WE SEE PRECIPITATION THIS MORNING IT IS GOING TO BE PARTICULARLY WET BUT RIGHT NOW VERY CLEAR THE ONLY SNOW THAT WE SAW, A FEW FLURRIES ABOUT 15 MINUTES AGO READ WE UNDERSTAND THERE IS ADDITIONAL PRECIPITATION. Two people displaced after firefighters extinguish fire in Pleasant Ridge

Cincinnati firefighters have extinguished a structure fire that displaced two people in Pleasant Ridge, Tuesday morning.Click the video player above to watch other morning headlines from WLWT News 5Fire crews were dispatched to the 6300 block of Girard Avenue at 4:31 a.m. after a call from the homeowners stated they awoke to crackling sounds and the smell of smoke. Upon arriving to the scene, the crew found heavy smoke coming from the home and started a full one alarm compliment. At it’s peak, 42 firefighters were on scene of this structure fire.The fire was found in the basement of the building and was extinguished by fire crews. Officials with the Cincinnati Fire Department state that over $100,000 in damage occurred to the home, with moderate fire damage to the basement and smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.No injuries were reported, but two occupants have been displaced due to the damage. Upon arriving to the scene, the crew found heavy smoke coming from the home and started a full one alarm compliment. At it’s peak, 42 firefighters were on scene of this structure fire.

The fire was found in the basement of the building and was extinguished by fire crews. Officials with the Cincinnati Fire Department state that over $100,000 in damage occurred to the home, with moderate fire damage to the basement and smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.

No injuries were reported, but two occupants have been displaced due to the damage.

Fire investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
