INDIANAPOLIS — Thousands of high school students from around the country will be showing off their Future Farmers of America jackets during the organization’s convention in downtown Indianapolis.
The 97th National FFA Convention and Expo starts Wednesday in downtown Indianapolis, helping these high school students develop into the next generation of leaders. The convention is expected to end on Saturday.
“No matter where you are in FFA, you’ll find inspiration and direction to become a leader and influencer, ready to make an impact,” the organization’s website said. “During this event, find out who you are, who you want to become and how you can change how the world grows.”
The convention will consist of workshops for teachers and students, along with competitive events, a concert and rodeos. Several topics will be covered during the conference, including:
- Veterinary Science
- Forestry and floriculture
- Agriculture sales
- Business management
- Public speaking
- Employment skills.
According to the Indiana Department of Agriculture, there are FFA chapters in 90 Indiana counties and Indiana is the ninth-largest farming state in the United States. Agriculture contributes to more than $35 billion to Indiana’s economy.
