June is always an interesting month in Pittsburgh. Spring is turning to summer, temperatures are rising (often rapidly), and many, many outdoor events take place throughout the month- including some of our very favorites.
So in this one we wanted to share a few June-focused events for you to check out if you decide to visit Pittsburgh this month!
The Three Rivers Arts Festival
One of the biggest festivals in Pittsburgh every year is the Three Rivers Arts Festival. This massive event runs for roughly 10 days and features artists from all over southwest Pennsylvania and the country at large plus musical acts, unique art exhibits, and a whole lot more.
In 2022, the Three Rivers Arts Festival will be in a new location, the Cultural District downtown, and will run from June 3rd to 12th. Main stage headliners include Cory Henry (June 3rd), Sierra Hull (June 5th), the Pittsburgh Symphony (June 6th), and many, many more.

Pittsburgh Pride
Pride celebrations take place all over the country in June which corresponds to LGBT Pride Month that commemorates the Stonewall Riots of 1969. The events for Pride in Pittsburgh are quite popular and in 2022 take place over the dates of June 2nd to 5th at venues like KLVN Coffee Lab and Trace Brewing as well as marches downtown and festivals on the Warhol Bridge and in the North Shore to name a few.

Phipps Conservatory’s Summer Flower Show
Normally, Phipps Conservatory’s flower shows only last for a few weeks. But if you struggle to get to a show in a timely manner, the Summer Flower Show is for you. This one runs from May to September and gives you a great deal of time to check out the flowers!
In 2022, Phipps Conservatory’s Summer Flower Show is entitled “Monet in Bloom” and brings some of the master’s most iconic works to life- in flower form! When visiting, be sure to look out for the new sound elements for the show as well as they really help bring the recreated works to life!

“GUITAR: The Instrument That Rocked The World” at The Carnegie Science Center
The Carnegie Science Center is always a fun museum to visit on the North Shore as it includes exhibits relating to water, space, the body, sports science, robotics, and so much more (not to mention, has its own submarine you can tour, too!). But while this is fun in its own right, in 2022 the museum also has a temporary show, “GUITAR: The Instrument That Rocked the World” that is included with general admission!
This touring show features dozens upon dozens of classic and unusual guitars, the world’s largest playable electric guitar (clocking in at 43 feet long and weighing a ton), and more exhibits highlighting the world’s most popular instrument.

Beers of the Burgh
Beers of the Burgh is arguably the most popular beer festival in Pittsburgh. The reason? It showcases dozens of breweries in Western Pennsylvania all with the iconic Carrie Furnace as its backdrop! We never say no to sipping on local beer, but doing so in the ruins of a former steel mill makes this one distinctly Pittsburgh all around.
In 2022, Beers of the Burgh is approaching the event a little differently. Instead of having all of the breweries in one spot for a single day, they’re breaking it up into two weekends- one on June 4th and one on June 11th. So be sure to check out what day your favorite breweries are participating and book your tickets accordingly!

Cinema in the Park
Dollar Bank’s Cinema in the Park is one of the most enjoyable activities in the summer months as pop-up movie screens can be found on select nights in parks all over the city like Schenley Park, Grandview Park, Riverview Park (just following Stars at Riverview Jazz on select nights), and more. Just be sure to get there early as these shows can be quite popular!
Movies that will be playing in 2022 include Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Spider-Man: No Way Home, 10 Things I Hate About You, Luca, and many, many more.

Kennywood’s Bites and Pints Event
Weekends at Kennywood are about to get a whole lot tastier with the return of their annual Bites and Pints event- running Thursday to Sunday through June 26th. Guests at Kennywood are able to sample chef creations from around the world with dishes from Greece, Italy, the Caribbean, Germany, Poland, Asia, and Mexico. These can be purchased either a la carte or through pre-paid 8 or 12 sample “Bite Cards” that can be used throughout the month.
As a bonus, season pass holders who purchase a 12 sample Bite Card will get an extra three samples free! Rides and chef-driven food? You know we’re all about that.
