Barbieri: Caleb Williams is far from flawless, but he’s also the most talented quarterback that this team has arguably ever had. He’s at his best when he’s on the move, where he’s able to place the ball in tight spaces with pinpoint accuracy even when he’s off platform. Williams is always looking to throw, even when he’s buying time, but he can make plays with his legs, if necessary. In college, Williams’ biggest weakness was trying to do too much and looking for a big play rather than taking what the defense gave him, and that resulted in some unnecessary sacks. That’s something he’ll need to avoid at the NFL level. The Bears have stressed that Williams needs to lean on the playmakers around him — essentially, be the point guard of the offense. Rather than wait for a play to develop that isn’t necessarily there, get the ball out quick and let his arsenal of weapons, including DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, and D’Andre Swift, do the heavy lifting.
