Puttshack

Puttshack is located in The Terminal building in Pittsburgh’s Strip District and embraces modern technology to add to the mini golf experience in their four courses.

Your golf ball includes a sensor to detect which player is on the green and count hits automatically. Other in-game sensors/elements are used to track points- both when you sink your ball in the hole and via other microgames at each par.

Think of elements like beer pong to try and get your ball into a hole that will straight-shot it to a hole-in-one, others like trivia where you get bonus points for hitting your ball through a channel pointing to the correct answer, and other fun takes on classic games like Skeeball, pinball, and more! (Note that these mini-games may vary by course.)

If ambiance is what you look for in mini golf, Puttery should be on your radar. This chain is the second indoor mini golf course in Pittsburgh’s Strip District and features three themed courses that will have you feeling like you are in a cozy Alpine lodge, a library, ora loaded garage!

Although the pars here are fairly short by mini golf standards, they make up for it by also having a cocktail bar and full restaurant experience inside- making for a perfect opportunity to have a complete night out all in one spot! Be on the lookout for unlimited golf promotions to hit all the courses at your leisure pending crowds.

Forsythe Mini Golf

While several mini golf experiences in this list feature a unique ambiance or interesting element to add a twist to the game, Forsythe Mini Golf feels like mini golf in its purest form.

Although this one does have some nominal course designs and challenges at every hole, the real fun of this one here is that the course design embraces the curvy and slightly hilly nature of the land just outside of Carnegie- adding for a delightful challenge in what otherwise looks like a straight-forward course.

Truly, you need to watch out for the nominal contours of the course here as an unseen bump or change in grade in any given course can result in an extra score (or three) to your tally!

Cornhole Golf at the Mars-Bethel Golf Course

In 2024, Mars-Bethel Golf Course introduced a new mini golf-like experience with a space-themed twist worthy of Mars borough. The aptly named Cornhole Golf blends one part mini golf with one part cornhole all with a backdrop of some amazing interstellar designs.

The premise is simple. Each member of your team lines up at launch pads to throw your bean bag at a board at the end of the course, trying to sink it in while avoiding obstacles. If you nail it, you get one point. If not, you move to the next closer launch pad to try again. After three attempts without making it in, you get a max score of four and move on to the next hole.

Mini golf truly meets cornhole here!

While there are other dynamics to keep in mind, such as being able to lower your score at the end of the game based on how many times you make a beanbag on the deck without getting it into the hole, this one is a perfect blend of the two popular games all with a fun space theme to round it out!

Fun Fore All

Fun Fore All Family Park is a massive entertainment center in Cranberry Township, PA, about 25 minutes north of the city. This one features a massive arcade, go karts, batting cages, XD rides, and, of course, two 18 hole mini golf courses outside.

The mini golf course here is about as classic as they come with challenging greens, unique set designs (a giant castle, anyone?), and a whole lot more.
