SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The 437 Project’s runners are approaching the end of their relay journey across South Dakota.
Running across the state from the Wyoming border to the Iowa border is a challenge. It takes a team, and that’s what they have.
“The physical challenge is different out here in the western part of the state,” runner Susan Kornder of Aberdeen said. “I’m from the eastern side, and the hills out here are not forgiving. But it’s good.”
“I don’t know if anyone really understands how much goes into it until you’re actually running it, but we owe a lot to our support crew who has been there and kept us safe,” runner Jess Rumpca of Pierre said. “But I mean we really, we couldn’t do this without a team. People couldn’t get through mental health struggles without a team, either, so I mean, I just think we need to keep this thing growing and keep spreading awareness.”
The journey presses on. The runners are expected to finish the final legs of their relay Sunday.
