SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A 47-year-old woman was kidnapped while walking in western Sioux Falls Wednesday night.
According to Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens, the victim was walking near 13th Street and Elmwood Avenue around 11 p.m. Wednesday when a vehicle pulled up next to her and a person grabbed and assaulted her.
Clemens said the woman was forced into the vehicle and later ended up inside an apartment where she was held against her will and taken to an area near Clear Lake Township in Minnehaha County, which is north of Humboldt.
According to court documents, Edgar Segura faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and attempted rape.
Clemens said police are working to learn more about the case and if there was a connection between the victim and suspect and if other people were involved.
