Four people, including a 65-year-old man, have been shot Thursday afternoon around the corner from Chicago Police Department headquarters on the city’s South Side.

The shooting was the second of the day in that area as two men were injured in an apparently unrelated attack just after midnight.

The shootings happened at 35th Street and Prairie Avenue, said Chicago Fire Department spokesperson Larry Merritt and police.

The four were standing near the street when, at 3:14 p.m., an assailant confronted them and fired shots before fleeing.

Two men, 65 and 44, were in good condition at the UChicago Medical Center, suffering from gunshot wounds to the arms and leg, police said.

Two other males of unknown ages were also shot, one of whom was taken to Insight Hospital & Medical Center with a graze wound to the hand and another hit in the body declined emergency medical services, according to police.

CPD headquarters is located at 3510 S. Michigan Ave.

Earlier Thursday, two men were shot nearby during an apparently unrelated attack.

The earlier shooting happened at 12:08 a.m. in the 3500 block of South Indiana Avenue when an assailant fired multiple rounds from a vehicle, hitting two male victims in their legs.
