CARMEL, Ind. — Vehicle break-ins and thefts are concerning residents in a Hamilton County neighborhood, especially when firearms are being left unattended inside.

Carmel Police Department is investigating a series of car break-ins in the Home Place area.

Law enforcement stated that seven cars were broken into, three of which were cop cars, all from different departments.

Carmel Police and Westfield Police both confirmed that vehicles from their departments had been broken into on the morning of Wednesday, July 31.

The officers left their service weapons inside the vehicles, which were stolen from their patrol cars.

The third agency that had a break-in was Noblesville Police. However, no firearms were stolen from their department vehicle.

Another woman living in the Home Place area said her SUV was also hit by the thieves.

She said she found her glove box open and items in her car were scattered around.

Thankfully, she said nothing was taken.

However, this isn’t the first time her neighborhood has been targeted.

She said she has lived there for several years and has had her car broken into previously, along with some of her neighbors’ cars.

Due to her concerns about safety in the area, she is planning to move in a few months.

While she does have Ring cameras outside her home, she said she didn’t catch anyone in the act.

Neighbors down the road also confirmed that detectives stopped by their home for security footage as well.

Anyone with information is asked to call Carmel Police Criminal Investigations at 317-571-2500.
