A 21-year-old woman is in critical condition after being struck by a car driving west on the South Loop on Sunday night, according to Chicago police.

A 54-year-old man was driving a 2021 Honda sedan in the first block of Ida B. Wells Drive when he struck the woman. Police were called around 11:50 p.m.

The man remained on the scene and received one citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian, according to a police spokeswoman.

The Chicago Fire Department took the woman to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to a statement by police.

The collision happened just minutes after an unrelated hit-and-run in Rosemoor that left a 1-year-old girl injured.
