SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A 21-year-old Sioux Falls man has been arrested after pointing a gun at a woman waiting to pick up her friend in western Sioux Falls.

According to Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens, Adam Abdalshafee Ismail faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault and damage to property.

According to police, a woman was sitting in her car waiting for a friend at 8:15 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of south Tanglewood Avenue. That’s when Ismail came up and pointed a gun at her, took her keys, phone and wallet, Clemens said.

There were no injuries and police said Ismail threw the keys, destroyed the phone and took off running with the wallet.

“This was a bit of an unusual case because there was really no connection between the victim and the suspect,” Clemens said. “We were able to get an arrest in a short amount of time.”

Police said surveillance video and traffic cameras helped find details on the suspect and they were able to stop Ismail’s vehicle where he had a handgun on him that police believe was used in the robbery.
