SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Two of Sturgis Mayor Angela Wilkerson’s executive administration team members have stepped down.
Public Works Director Rick Bush and Police Chief Geody VanDewater have resigned from their roles on the team, according to a Tuesday press release from the City of Sturgis.
Bush and VanDewater have served on the team since May 2024. They expressed desires to focus on their departments’ vital roles.
In 2023, voters pared down the government team to three members which included Bush, VanDewater and Director of Administrative Services Lisa Katzenstein.
Katzenstein resigned from the admin team in September 2024.
Wilkerson was sworn in as Sturgis Mayor in March 2024. Wilkerson hopes to hire a city administrator in 2025 and will continue to serve as Sturgis’ chief executive officer.
