INDIANAPOLIS — Two school buses slid off Morgan County roads on Friday.
According to a Madison Township Fire Department Facebook post, crews were dispatched to Centenary Road and State Road 144 on a report of a motor vehicle crash. When first responders made it to the scene, they found a school bus and an SUV sitting off the road.
Officials reported that the bus and SUV did not collide. Both vehicles were still occupied when crews first arrived at the scene.
MTFD personnel helped school officials get all 28 students off the bus safely. First responders then helped the students and two Mooresville School Corporation employees get to another bus located approximately half a mile from where the crashed bus slid off the road.
About 45 minutes after officials responded to the first accident, crews received word of another school bus that had slid off the road on Fox Hill Drive. MTFD reported that all 38 students on the second bus were safely evacuated and taken to another bus located about 1/10th of a mile away.
MTFD indicated that it responded to seven crashes from 3:50 p.m. to 7:37 p.m.
