Two juveniles were arrested Sunday for allegedly shooting and killing a 15-year-old boy last Monday in East Palo Alto, officials said.

The suspects were arrested after two separate search warrants were served, one in Palo Alto and the other in East Palo Alto, Jeff Liu, interim chief of the East Palo Alto Police Department told SFGATE in an email.

“Both will be arraigned in juvenile court today at 2:00,” Liu wrote in an email.

The warrants were served by East Palo Alto officers, along with SWAT teams from Palo Alto Police and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, Palo Alto Online reported. Officers also seized a semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine from one of the suspect’s homes, the department said.

Police were first alerted to the shooting at 9:04 p.m. on June 13 when a ShotSpotter detected gunfire in the 1900 block of Manhattan Avenue, officials said. At the scene, they found the boy with injuries near an alley. He was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries there.

Two male suspects were seen running toward Woodland Avenue following the shooting, police said.

Both suspects will be booked into a juvenile hall on suspicion of murder. The suspects’ names are not being released because they are minors. Police are still gathering evidence and ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact Acting Commander Angel Sanchez at 650-853-3154.
