INDIANAPOLIS — Two juveniles were serious injured in a crash on the northeast side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.
An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson confirmed a “serious bodily injury” crash unfolded at the intersection of East 43rd Street and North Shadeland Avenue. Public police reporting systems indicate law enforcement was called to the area around 3:32 p.m. Saturday.
IMPD did not initially provide details on the number of people that were injured in the crash. The agency didn’t report the cause of the crash.
IMPD received assistance at the scene from the Lawrence Police Department. An LPD spokesperson confirmed at least two children were seriously injured in the crash. The children were transported from the scene via ambulance for medical treatment.
LPD reported that its officers were in the area when the crash unfolded. For that reason, LPD was the first agency to arrive at the scene. Lawrence police then assisted IMPD until its units arrived and provided enough resources to take control of the scene.
