Police in Lincoln, Nebraska, confirmed two people were killed and 19 people were injured after two cars collided and went into a crowd Sunday night.Capt. Max Hubka with LPD said the crash happened at the intersection of 52nd and O streets around 10:45 p.m. Officers were in the area for special traffic enforcement and responded to the scene “within seconds.”Hubka said two vehicles were involved in the crash. Both vehicles went up onto the sidewalk and hit a number of pedestrians. Police said the area was crowded, with people stacked three to four deep in some areas watching a classic car show happening over Memorial Day weekend.”There’s about 300-400 people over on the sidewalk just watching the car show tonight,” said Breeanna Shields. She said she witnessed the crash and ran to help the victims.Police said 19 people were being treated at area hospitals. Of those hurt, officers said one had critical injuries.Police on Twitter said the two people who died were “female,” and added in a news conference that they were in one vehicle. Their names have not been released.”At this point we think we have a good idea of what occurred and we have everyone involved is in contact with officers,” Hubka said.
