GRANT COUNTY, Ind. — A vehicle crash in Grant County resulted in a double fatality on Friday, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the 5900 block of Strawtown Pike at 11:13 p.m. on a report of a vehicle crash involving two vehicles.
Upon arrival, deputies found two vehicles with substantial damage. Two occupants, a male driver and a female passenger of a 2009 Chevrolet, died on the scene.
The other driver, in a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, was found on the ground outside of their SUV. The driver was transported to a hospital in the area.
Alcohol is suspected of being a contributing factor in the crash.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that vehicle one was headed northbound on State Road 37 and overcorrected after leaving the travel portion of the road,” according to the press release from the Sheriff’s Office. “As a result, vehicle one began to spin out of control coming into the path of the vehicle two resulting in the crash.”
The names of the victims are withheld as families are notified.
