ANDERSON, Ind. — Two individuals were arrested in Anderson earlier this month in connection with a mid-July shooting that occurred in the 2100 block of Arrow Avenue.
According to a news release from the Anderson Police Department, 30-year-old Jalen Davis and 22-year-old Skie Griffin were taken into custody after the department’s SWAT team executed search and arrest warrants for homes in the 2100 block of Arrow Ave. and 700 block of W. 3rd St. on Sept. 13.
On July 25, the department conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the confiscation of firearms, ammunition and drugs. The release said that one of the firearms was found to have been involved in a July 21 shooting in the 2100 block of Arrow Ave.
According to previous reports, eight people were shot and two were seriously injured after a block party. Officials said at the time that the block party was advertised as a “stop the violence” party.
Since the shooting, multiple people have been arrested on charges including criminal recklessness, unlawful possession of a firearm and more. As officials investigated the shooting, multiple illegal transactions of firearms were uncovered, including transactions involving individuals who were found to be convicted felons.
This investigation led to the Sept. 13 warrants being issued. The release said Davis and Griffin were arrested after multiple firearms and other contraband were seized as evidence.
“It’s important to note that our investigation is ongoing,” the release from the Anderson Police Department read. “All arrest affidavits have been submitted to the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office for further review and submitted to the courts. All accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The Anderson Police Department will continue actively pursuing all leads and the investigation remains ongoing.”
