SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — 19 out of 20 Pennington County businesses passed the alcohol compliance check.
According to officials, only one business was caught selling to an underage informant.
Authorities say the employee was issued a citation, as a reminder to businesses that selling alcohol to a minor is a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by 30 days in jail or a $500 fine.
A business’s first offense could be a one-thousand dollar fine with the price going up for a second offense. A third offense can result in the loss of a liquor or business license.
