A 15-year-old boy died after being shot in San Francisco’s Fillmore District on Thursday evening, officials said.

The San Francisco Police Department said in a news release issued Friday that it responded to a report of a shooting at 7:19 p.m. on the 1800 block of Eddy Street, which is just off Divisadero Street, three blocks from the Raymond Kimbell Playground.

At the scene, officers found the teen with life-threatening injuries. First responders provided medical aid before putting the boy in an ambulance, which rushed him to a local hospital.

Despite efforts to save the boy’s life, he was pronounced dead.

The department’s homicide detail is leading an investigation and asking anyone with information about the fatal shooting to call the tip line at 415-575-4444. You can also text a tip to TIP411; begin your message with SFPD. It’s OK if you prefer to remain anonymous.
