MONROE COUNTY, Ind. – An investigation is underway after a person was seriously injured in a house fire in Monroe County Wednesday morning.

Monroe County Fire crews were called around 3:45 a.m. to a residence on W. Rogers Road. The initial call was for a reported structure fire. When fire crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming out of one of the bedroom windows.

A resident of the home was also located in the front yard. They were transported to an area hospital in serious condition, investigators say.

A search of the home was conducted and no other occupants were found, fire officials say. Fire crews say the fire mainly burned in one bedroom and was marked under control in 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
