YANKTON, S.D. (KELO) — One person died from a plane crash in rural Yankton County Wednesday morning.
According to a Facebook post, Yankton first responders received a call at 7:48 a.m. Wednesday for the report of a plane crash in a bean field near the intersection of 494th Avenue and 298th Street.
Upon arrival, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released yet pending notification of family members.
Yankton authorities ask the public to stay clear of the crash area as this is an ongoing investigation. Barricades have been put up and deputies will remain on the scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are working with the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office on the crash.
