MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — A man is dead following an early-morning fire in Martinsville, the Martinsville Fire Department confirmed on Saturday.
According to a Facebook post from MFD, fire crews were called around 1:44 a.m. to a residence fire in the 700 block of S. Mulberry Street. In a press release, MFD added that a male was found deceased inside the home.
This marks the second fatal fire in Morgan County on Saturday, as firefighters responded to a scene in Mooresville just minutes prior.
MFD said they will have crews and resources on this scene “…for an extended amount of time.” As of this article’s publication, MFD has not provided an update on when the scene will be cleared.
MFD also asked the public to avoid the area if possible.
The department did not list the cause of the fire, and the investigation remains ongoing.
