MAXWELL, Ind. — A man died and a firefighter was injured in a Sunday morning fire.
According to the Greenfield Fire Territory, crews were called around 12:34 a.m. to the 100 block of S Center Street in Maxwell, just north of Greenfield.
GFT said a woman was alerted about this fire thanks to her smoke detectors and was able to get out of the building. However, a man was unable to do the same.
Per GFT, that man was found by firefighters in the home and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A firefighter also sustained minor injuries, but GFT said they have since been treated and released from the hospital.
GFT has not provided the cause of the fire at this time.
