BOONE COUNTY, Ind. — A Jamestown woman was pronounced dead after a Monday morning crash in Boone County.

According to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the area of 8800 West 300 South at around 10:34 a.m. on Monday in response to a two-vehicle traffic accident.

The accident involved a pickup truck and a utility terrain vehicle, or UTV, both of which deputies saw when they arrived at the scene.

The release said that the UTV, driven by 61-year-old Stacey Sutphin, a Jamestown woman, was traveling in front of a pickup truck, driven by a Jamestown man. The UTV turned left into a local farm on 300 South when the pickup truck attempted to pass the vehicle, causing the truck to strike the UTV.

Officials said that Sutphin was taken to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The incident remains under investigation by the Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, the release said.
