JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. — One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash in Jackson County on Friday.

According to a press release, 53-year-old Jose Uribe of Winder, Georgia, was driving a 2008 Nissan pickup truck northbound on Interstate 65 in Jackson County before the crash. For an unknown reason, Uribe’s vehicle left the east side of the roadway near mile marker 43 between Seymour and Crothersville around 10:25 a.m.

Indiana State Police reported that Uribe drove the truck back into the roadway before it ultimately overturned and came to rest in the northbound lanes. Uribe was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.

One of Uribe’s passengers was flown from the scene to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment, per ISP. A second passenger, who is 17 years old, was taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour before later being flown to an Indianapolis hospital for additional treatment.

Police are still investigating the crash. The results of toxicology testing are pending.

The northbound lanes of I-65 were closed for two hours as officials investigated and cleaned up the crash.
